Artist’s Statement:

Although the world is filled with countless diverse cultures, universal symbols of health and medicine have been adopted by countries across the globe. Ancient symbols originating from Greek mythology, such as the rod of Asclepius and the Caduceus, have become permanent fixtures of the medical profession in nearly every country. Likewise, modern signs representing the Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement and Médecins Sans Frontières have become globally recognizable symbols of humanitarian aid to communities combating disease.
